Summary

This scholarship is designed for full-time undergraduate (and in some cases graduate) students who are of Latino/a origin and wish to pursue higher education in the United States (including Puerto Rico) or Latin America. The program seeks individuals who are academically capable, financially disadvantaged, and committed to community service and leadership.

Eligible applicants must typically be between the ages of 17-24 at the application deadline, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, be enrolled at an accredited university full-time, and provide evidence of community service or volunteer involvement. The award is not available to individuals simply seeking general operating support or for non-educational purposes—it is focused on direct educational assistance.

The funds are intended to cover tuition and related educational expenses. Undergraduate recipients may receive up to around $4,000 per semester, with a maximum of about $8,000 for the academic year, disbursed directly to the educational institution on behalf of the student. Graduate awards may allow similar or slightly higher amounts depending on the year. Awardees are required to maintain full-time enrollment, a 3.0 GPA or higher each semester, and complete a set number of community-service hours per semester in order to renew the scholarship in subsequent years.

Applications generally open in the spring and the submission deadline is typically late May. Selection is competitive, based on academic achievement, financial need, community engagement, and potential to contribute positively to one’s community and broader society. Awards are made on an annual basis, and recipients may be eligible to renew the scholarship yearly if they continue to meet the criteria.

In summary, this opportunity is ideal for Latino/a students with strong academic standing and leadership potential who seek meaningful financial support for their higher-education goals and are ready to engage actively in service and study.
